May 8, 2012. Eleven articles agreed to with at most minimal changes, Next Bargaining Session May 14 will address parental leave and gender equity, Post-tenure review

The UFF bargaining team met with the administration team on April 26
at 2:00 PM. We have already tentatively agreed on articles 2, 4, 5,
10, 11, 13, 19, 21, 25, 27, 28 with either no or minimal changes.

We will be meeting again on May 14 at 2:00 PM in the Provost?s
conference room (3rd floor Administration Building) to discuss Article
3: incorporating NTT faculty into the bargaining team; Article 6:
addressing parental leave and gender equity; and Article 10: producing
a sustained performance evaluation for those who already have tenure.

During our last meeting, the administration suggested changes to
Article 9.5: to have the option to pay or not pay faculty for
additional work over the summer regarding supervising interns,
thesis/dissertation supervision; Article 12: non-reappointment
letters; Article 16: regarding what constitutes job abandonment; and
Article 22: debating the terms of what ?equitable? distribution means
in regards to sabbaticals. We will be discussing these changes and
their implications during our next bargaining meeting. For those of
you interested in these issues, feel free to contact us and please
attend the next bargaining meeting for your support. The more numbers
we have, the more seriously the administration takes these concerns.

More directly economic issues will be discussed later when the budget
becomes more settled.
